Privacy

The short version
- No ads, no tracking, no selling data. Ever.
- You don’t need an account, an email address or your real name to play.
- Most of your progress (levels, unlocks, stats) stays on your own device.
- We only keep what’s needed for online play, leaderboards and games with friends.
What stays on your device
Your level, XP, unlocks, settings, stats, missions and the player name you choose are saved in your browser or app storage on your device. We can’t see them. Clearing the app’s data or your browser storage deletes them.
What our servers handle
- Online matches: while you play online, your chosen player name, your character’s look, and your moves are passed between you and your opponent through our server. Moves are hidden until both players have chosen. Nothing about a live match is kept after it ends.
- Player ID: the game makes a random ID and secret for your device, so leaderboards and games with friends know it’s you. It isn’t linked to your real identity.
- Weekly leaderboard: your player name, points, games and wins for the week. Old weeks are deleted after about two months.
- Play by turns: the players’ names, looks and moves for each game. Finished games are removed after about a week.
- Notifications (optional): if you allow notifications, your browser gives us an anonymous delivery address so we can tell you a friend joined or it’s your turn. Turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
Player names are chosen by you and shown to other players — please don’t use your real full name.
Who else is involved
Our site and servers run on Cloudflare, which processes basic technical data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site and keep it secure. Push notifications are delivered by your device’s own service (Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft). We don’t share your information with anyone else.
Children
Standoff is designed for players aged 13 and over. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children, and the game never asks for any.
Deleting your data
To remove everything on your device, clear the app’s storage (or uninstall the app). To have your leaderboard entries or turn games removed from our servers, contact us with your player name and we’ll delete them.
